Update on Holly and Ava

Holly and Ava are both getting better.  Holly is getting her pain undercontrol and is able to move around a little.  She is making regular trips to the NICU to see Ava and be with her.

Ava had to go back on CPAP early this morning and is still on it.  They have taken her off the oxygen part of it but she still needs it for the positive pressure in her lungs.  Her nostrials have became slightly inflamed so she needs this to keep the airways open.  As you will see in the pictures they have inserted an IV in the top of her head.  They have had to change the IV about three times because it keeps going bad.

I thought you may like to see the hospital she is in so I have included some pictures of the hospital.  These are only small portions because it is so big.

A New Arrival

We would like to say thank you to everyone for your love and support during this difficult time.  Your outpouring of love has been and will always be  greatly appreciated.

Now for the new arrival.  Ava was born yesterday afternoon at 3:53 PM.  She was 5 pounds 3 ounces and 18.75 inches long.  Because of her premature status, she had to be on a CPAP because of the rate of respiration and the oxygen saturation levels.  She had low blood sugar so an IV was started to assist her with some sugar water.  This morning she is off the CPAP and her blood sugar is great.  Our next hurdle will be to make sure she is able to eat and eating (more like sucking of course) properly.  We don’t know at this point when we will be able to bring her home.  Right now it is a race between mommy and baby.

Early Christmas

Yesterday I received 4 large boxes of little girl baby clothes from my dear sis Heidi- I am so overwhelmed by her and Jason’s generosity- It took me almost 50 hangers and 4 drawers to put it all away- When we found out we were pregnant we had nothing-I had given it all to friends in LA or sold it and I am amazed at how little we have had to buy ourselves- Ava will be the world’s best dressed little girl for a very long time! Don’t worry Stef I am saving it all for you!-hint hint
